Sourcing

Our Sourcing Values

At Sleepy Mango, sourcing coffee is about intentionality. We’re a small roaster making thoughtful choices in a global supply chain that’s complex, ever-shifting, and sometimes contradictory.

We’re a small business. We work within real constraints—seasonality, availability, cost. We make sourcing decisions that align with our values and make sense for our size and budget. That means striking a balance between:

  • Choosing coffees that reflect our values and taste incredible
  • Being flexible and real about what’s available, when, and why
  • Working with importers who offer insight and transparency
  • Blending and roasting in ways that highlight the strengths of each region

We’re building slowly, choosing carefully, and doing our best to stay grounded in what we believe.

We source with curiosity, respect, and a desire to understand the full picture: land, labor, weather, economics, culture, and taste. Because coffee is agriculture—and agriculture is a source of life.

Where We're Sourcing From

Each varietal and region has something different to offer. The soil, the weather, the way it’s processed—it all shapes the flavor. That’s why we source from the places we do: because every region brings something specific, something surprising, something worth noticing.

We don’t believe in a “best” coffee. We believe in highlighting what makes each one distinct.

A nutty, spiced washed from India.
A syrupy, jam-fruit natural  lot from Uganda.
A bright, floral peaberry from Tanzania.
A comforting washed coffee from Honduras with milk chocolate and citrus notes.

We roast to showcase what’s already there—not to make everything taste the same.

And that’s what we love: coffees that bring comfort and spark curiosity in the same cup. That feel familiar and a little surprising at the same time. That remind you of something you grew up with—or something you’ve never had, but already kind of love.

The Importers Who Make This Possible

We partner with importers who prioritize:

  • Long-term relationships with growers and co-ops
  • Full traceability and real context about where and how the coffee moves
  • A respect for the complexity behind the cup
  • Ones that invest resources back into farms at origin.

They’re the bridge that makes our work possible—and we’re lucky to work alongside people who care as much as we do.

This is a people-powered thing

We love farmers. AND we also love truck drivers, dock workers, baristas, warehouse staff, cuppers, sample roasters, home brewer, roasters, and everyone else who keeps this thing moving.

Coffee doesn’t happen without a thousand hands working in rhythm. And we’re here to honor that—not through glossy storytelling, but by doing business in a way that feels more grounded, more transparent, and more inclusive.
