General Specialty Coffee FAQs
-
What is specialty coffee, and why should I care?
Specialty coffee represents the top 20% of coffee crops produced worldwide. These coffees are meticulously grown, harvested, and processed to achieve a quality score of 80+ points on a 100-point scale. Specialty coffee highlights unique flavors from distinct regions and farms, offering a level of quality far beyond standard commercial coffee - think delicious wine, cheese, artisanal stuff. -
How do I keep my coffee fresh?
Simple—keep it away from air, light, heat, and moisture. Store it in an airtight container (if you can), not in the fridge or freezer. Honestly, I've had it in everything from the bag I bought it in, to air tight containers to glass jars. it's all fine for short term storage -
What’s the difference between light, medium, and dark roasts?
- Light Roasts → More caffeine, bright and juicy flavors.
- Medium Roasts → Balanced, milder acidity/ "sourness" more sweetness -works black or with milk.
- Dark Roasts → Bold, roasty, great for espresso and takes milk/sugar like a champ.
If you drink your coffee with milk and sugar, look for ones with syrupy, creamy, or velvety textures or medium to heavy "bodies"—they’ll hold up better and taste richer.

When do you roast and ship coffee?
Typically, toasting happens on Sundays, and we ship on Mondays, so you get coffee that’s just hit its prime. But we try to roast to order because fresh coffee just tastes better. -
What roast levels do you offer?
We roast to bring out what makes each coffee special—so we don’t stick to one roast level. Our range goes from light to dark, but we mostly hang out in the light-to-medium-dark zone, where the coffee still has character but isn’t shy about depth and sweetness. -
Whole bean or ground?
We sell whole bean coffee because fresh-ground is always better—but if you want it pre-ground, no problem. Just pick your grind option when adding to your cart or drop a note in your order. We got you. -
Do you offer subscriptions?
Not yet—but stay tuned! Our coffee subscriptions are coming Summer 2025, so soon you won’t have to think about reordering (unless you like that kind of stress). -
What’s the best coffee for pour-over?
If you want a classic, clean cup, try our Honduras coffee in a Chemex—smooth, balanced, and just the right amount of bright. The India and Uganda are yummy in a kalita or origami. ps - I use a basic Clever dripper at home -
What’s the best way to brew your coffee?
However you like it! We recommend pour-over, AeroPress, or French press to really bring out the best in each coffee. If you take milk, espresso or a strong drip brew will keep things balanced. Want specific brew tips? Just ask. -
What makes Sleepy Mango Coffee Company different?
We focus on seasonally sourced coffee from regions that don’t always get the spotlight—because great coffee isn’t just from the same handful of places. Every coffee we offer is thoughtfully sourced, roasted with care, and meant to feel like home—wherever home is for you. -  Can I visit your store or pick up my order?Â
We roast out of a shared commercial kitchen, which means we don’t have a storefront open to the public. However, if you’re local to the Atlanta area, you can schedule a pickup when you order—just reach out, and we’ll coordinate a time that works!
